Despite battering 50 mph coastal winds, Paul and the Immico liveried 270R delivered a strong performance at the Anglesey circuit this weekend. After the team’s Caterham suffered a heavy shunt at Thruxton, RS Motorsport executed an expert rebuild, ensuring a clean weekend free of DNFs. Immense gratitude goes to RS Motorsport for their dedication and attention to detail under pressure.

Qualifying didn't go to plan for Paul and P6 was the best he could do, not replicating times done in testing on older tyres. Grappling with wheelspin off the line in Race 1, Paul dropped three places. Undeterred, he mounted a series of incisive overtakes and fought tooth and nail nearly securing P2 before a red flag halted proceedings. He nonetheless crossed the line in P4, setting a positive tone for the weekend.

Starting P4 for Race 2, Paul lost ground on the opening lap but quickly found form, engaging in duels for a podium finish. His pace was strong and consistency high, leading to another P4 finish. Crucially, this outing provided vital lessons and momentum heading into the final contest.

In Race 3 Paul rocketed from his P4 grid slot to P3 on the opening lap. A seesaw battle with P2 highlighted both drivers’ tenacity, with both drivers jumping classes from Academy. On the thrilling final lap, Paul briefly lost a place to P4 before reclaiming P3, then capitalising on a minor error ahead to snatch P2 at the penultimate corner. He took the chequered flag in P2, cementing a solid points haul.

With two podiums and consistent top-four finishes, the Immico 270R package is continually getting stronger.
Paul reflects: “Huge thanks to RS Motorsport for getting us back on track. We faced brutal winds and stiff competition, but the car’s balance and our strategy paid off. Now we’ll focus on closing the gap to the top, I’m confident we can do it.”
