Oggelsby Makes Strong Start at Cadwell Park

Immico Chair Paul Oggelsby made a composed and competitive start to the Caterham 270R season at Cadwell Park, overcoming early setbacks to deliver a series of strong performances in mixed conditions.

Running the Immico liveried 270R, Oggelsby’s weekend began with disruption in Friday testing after being caught up in an unavoidable incident when a car spun across the track on the exit of the final corner. Despite this, he returned to form in a very wet qualifying session, setting the pace early and holding provisional pole for much of the session before ultimately securing P5 on the grid.

Race 1, held in dry conditions, saw a good launch and a number of close, competitive battles, resulting in a solid P4 finish. In Race 2, another strong start put him into contention at the front, where he spent the opening stages challenging for the lead before settling into a defensive drive to secure P2.

The final race of the weekend brought heavy rain and challenging conditions. A quick start saw Oggelsby take the lead early and build a gap, before a moment on the grass at Mansfield dropped him back to P6. A measured recovery drive followed, working back through the field to retake the lead with two laps remaining and secure the win.

Across the weekend, consistent results and a strong finish leave Oggelsby well placed in the early championship standings.

Reflecting on the weekend, he said: “It was a challenging start with the incident in testing, but the team did a great job to get everything back on track. The conditions kept changing, which made it a real test, but it was enjoyable to be in the mix throughout.”
